DESCRIPTION

The Marine Trader 38 Double Cabin, introduced back in 1980, proved to be a popular boat with budget-minded buyers drawn to her classic trawler profile, economical operation, and lavish teak interior. Like most Asian trawlers of her era, she rides on a solid fiberglass hull with hard aft chines, a well-flared bow, and a long, prop-protecting keel. Today’s 38 looks much like the original prototype despite the many modifications and updates made over the years. While a galley-up layout was first offered, the later galleydown floorplan proved more popular because of its more open salon. Either way, the cockpit can be accessed directly from the aft stateroom (a very useful feature indeed), and port and starboard deck doors in the salon provide quick access to the decks. Topside, the flybridge is arranged with the helm forward and two back-toback guest seats. On the downside, no one will ever confuse the Marine Trader 38 with a Grand Banks when it comes to quality. Nearly all were powered with a single 120/135hp Lehman diesel, and fuel consumption at 7–8 knots is only 3 gallons per hour. Later models with twin 210hp Cummins diesels cruise at 12 knots. PLEASE NOTE: NO WINDLASS, NO BOW THRUSTER, SINGLE ENGINE, TEAK DECKS REPLACED, MASTER STATEROOM WINDOWS REPLACED, TRANSMISSION REBUILT 2023, INJECTORS SERVICED 2023
